Project Overview
Chemie-Tech completed the full multi-discipline detailed design and engineering for the Hydrogen Treating Unit of a base oil hydrotreating refinery in Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq. The assignment was executed for Green Industrial Technologies under Project GK30.
Chemie-Tech Role
Working from the licensor's process package, the engineering team developed the unit from enhanced basic design into construction-ready deliverables across process, piping and mechanical, instrumentation, automation, electrical, and civil and structural disciplines.
Verified Scope
The scope covered the complete process and utility network inside the HTU battery limit, SCADA/DCS and ESD engineering, substation design carrying adjacent Hydrogen Production Unit package loads, and the supporting civil and structural design. The work was coordinated through a clash-checked 3D model.
Delivery Status
The lump-sum detailed-design assignment was completed, including engineering for hydrogen sulphide service and high-pressure hydrogen duty and interface control across the licensor package, vendor packages and site requirements.

- Plot plan, layouts, isometrics, material take-offs, and piping material and valve specifications
- Instrumentation and automation engineering for SCADA/DCS and ESD systems
- I/O counts, functional design specification, point and loop databases, alarm databases, cause-and-effect and ESD logic diagrams
- H2S detection and alarm engineering for personnel protection
- Substation, UPS, LV switchgear, motor control centres and general service board design, including HPU package loads
- Area classification, earthing, lighting, emergency lighting, cable schedules and material take-offs
- Steel structures, pipe racks and supports, underground sewer and cable trenches, paving, roads and fireproofing
- Base reactions issued for foundation design and coordinated vendor-package interfaces
